NELSON – Clinton Dwight was born September 2, 1982 in Swift Current, SK, to Danny and Sylvia Nelson, a younger brother for Jason and Craig.  Clint passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12th.  Clint is survived by his parents, Danny and Sylvia Nelson, his brother Jason and wife Corinne and niece Ava, and brother Craig Nelson.  Also survived by his maternal grandmother Hazel Rude, paternal grandmother Bessie Nelson, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Clint was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Iver Rude, paternal grandfather Vern Nelson, and Uncle Van Nelson, and Uncle Darrel Rude.  Clint grew up on the family farm north of Webb, SK, and attended school in Gull Lake, SK. After graduating high school, he attended SAIT in Calgary for computer engineering for 1 yr, and then after working for a couple of years, returned to SAIT again to complete his Exploration Technology.  After completing his education, he worked for Danny contracting for Husky Oil, and then hired on full time with Husky as an operator, where he worked his way up into a lead operator.  He continued to work with Husky and earlier this year when Whitecap took over Husky Oil, he stayed on with Whitecap in his role of lead operator.  Clint was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent many hours fishing with Jason competing on the walleye trail circuit. He enjoyed hunting with his long time school friend Jayson Louma.  He also enjoyed travelling, went to several of the Blue Jays games in Toronto, and travelled to Europe with his friend Brent Wilson.  He enjoyed watching Nascar, but never had the pleasure of attending a live race.  Clint was an avid computer geek, and very well-liked by all those he worked with, but took his time to get to know someone before he would open up with them.  In the words of his co-worker: “Clint was the quiet computer genius”.   Lots of joking around, but even as the lead hand, he never once told me what to do, just jumped in to help me, most lead hands won’t do that.  Not only did we lose a co-worker, we lost a family member, and a valuable member of our team.  We will miss his witty sense of humor, and things won’t be the same.  Clint was an independent thinker, and had an “I don’t care what anyone thinks attitude”, and will be sadly missed.  Clint lived in Swift Current, and was a valuable help to Sylvia and Danny on the farm due to living so close, and was always there to help when they needed it, whether it was feeding the cattle while they were away on vacation, or helping with anything else when needed.  The highlight of Clint’s year was hunting a near record elk not far from Tompkins.  Donations in lieu of flowers, can made be made care of Danny & Sylvia Nelson for a trust fund for Clint’s niece Ava Nelson.  A celebration of life service was held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Eagles Club in Swift Current.  For further information or to sign the family book of condolence, visit www.parksidefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements were in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle.

LANSBERRY Mr. Leslie (Les) passed away in the early morning hours of December 6, 2016.  He was 88.  Les was born in Herbert, and farming was his life and his love, even after he took a job with the city of Swift Current in 1953.  Les worked for the city until his retirement in 1989.  There he was affectionately known by many as “Lester the Pester” since he was always teasing and playing jokes on others.  When his wife, Doris, had a stroke in 1999 Les became her primary caregiver; and worked even harder at that job until her passing in 2013.  After her death, Les had mentioned to several friends and family that while he was not afraid to die, he was concerned that he would die alone.  Through the grace of God and the kind efforts of the hospital ER physician and nurses, his daughter was able to be at his bedside, holding his hand in the last hours as he passed.  Les was predeceased by his brother, Harry; his sisters, Edith (Francis), and Helen (Toews); and his wife, Doris.  He leaves behind his daughter, Sandra, son-in-law, Maurie, and granddaughter, Jennifer, who all live in Arizona; as well as various nieces, nephews and their children; and many many friends, young and old.  A remembrance of Les will be held in the Spring/Summer of next year.  Arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle.

OBOROWSKY – Bernard Joseph passed away suddenly from heart complications on December 22, 2016.  He will be greatly missed by his two daughters:  Angela Sauder and Laura Oborowsky, his three granddaughters, Kendal, Erika and Nico and his two son-in-laws, Darren Sauder and Derek Yee.  Bernie left a lasting impression on most people who met him and could be described as someone who would give you the shirt off his back.  When he loved, he loved with his whole heart.  He had a naturally giving nature.  Bernie liked to tell stories.  So much so that he would tell the same ones again and again.  His passions included music, singing, playing pool, cars, and yard work.  No matter where he lived, he always had the greenest and most plush grass on the block.  Bernie was born in North Battleford, SK on November 20, 1955 to Peter and Louise Oborowsky.  He grew up with his four siblings:  Eugene (Eileen) Oborowsky, Mervin (Gloria) Oborowsky, Earl (Cheryl) Oborowsky and Linda (Gerald) Beland.  Over a span of many years, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were born and held a very special place in his heart.  During his school years, Bernie met a foreign exchange student from Mexico, Luis Serrato, who would become his lifelong best friend.  One of the most precious memories to Bernie and his daughters was traveling to Mexico together and reuniting with the Serrato’s.  He later met and married Kathleen Torresan.  In 1989, Bernie and Kathy moved to Swift Current and spent many years together raising their family.  All who knew him, knew how funny, goofy, kind and creative he could be.  A few of his special friends, Keith Dixon, Marnie Senicar and Armande Bourlon have the stories to prove this.  He worked hard and valued everything he had but his true treasures were his two daughters and three granddaughters.  He will be greatly missed, always loved , and forever in our hearts.  As per Bernie’s request, no formal funeral will be held.  If you are interested in keeping his memory alive, please do something nice or thoughtful for someone today.  This simple gesture would have made him happy.  For further information or to sign the family book of condolence, visit www.parksidefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements were in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle.

SCHWARTZ – Emilie (Witzke) was born January 1, 1926 at Michowice, Poland to Michael and Anna Witzke.  She immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1948, after being forced out of Poland with her family, near the end of WWII.  Emilie married George Schwartz on November 28, 1950.  They farmed together and raised their family in the Hallonquist district.  In 1983 they built a house in Swift Current and semi-retired.  Mom loved working outdoors, both on the land and in her large garden.  As well, she was the driving force of the household.  Since she raised her own chickens, ducks, geese, pork and beef, baked bread and buns, churned butter and used garden produce, Mom’s meals were truly homemade.  When the weather forced Mom indoors she turned to her handiwork.  Mom’s attention to detail shines in the stitches of her embroidered tea towels and piece work.  Her children and grandchildren each received handmade quilts and feather pillows and everyone received a pair of knitted slippers.  We are lucky, that in her gentle manner, Mom passed many of these skills down to her family.  Her legacy lives on!  Emilie is survived by her loving family: Ed (Donna) Schwartz, his sons – Kelly (Christie) Schwartz, Logan and Grayson and Darren (Taryn) Schwartz, Megan and Rylee; Donna’s children –  Tim Funk (Jackie Currie), Quinn and Reece and Koralea (Jody) Duclos, Kolby, Karter and Kayden;  Deb (Tom) Jansen, their children – Jeff (Dara) Jansen, Mike Jansen (Michelle Slade) and Heather (Shane) Moebis, Emilie and Jordan; Betty (Art) Thompson, their children – Brodie Thompson (Mel Brockman), Ashley (Avery) Allen, Bates, Julie and Claire and Landon Thompson (Cheryl Borody); and Leland (Janell) Schwartz, their children – Jennifer Schwartz and Tyrell Schwartz.  A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastside Church of God with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating.  A tribute was given by grandchildren Brodie Thompson and Heather Moebis.  Her grandchildren were the pallbearers.  The interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.  Donations may be made to “The Meadows” for the purchase of an air bed or to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.  For further information or to sign the book of condolences, visit www.parksidefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle.

Times were hard back then and the bonds of their childhood together held them close throughout her lifetime. The family moved to Swift Current where she eventually married the love of her life, Harold Moen, and raised their three daughters – Terry, Trina and Tammy – as well as many pets throughout her lifetime! Rosemary worked as a bookkeeper at the Skyline Hotel and later, for Harold’s painting and sandblasting businesses.  Mom was our fun.  She was a master joke teller, a hilarious mimic, and could put a smile on everyone`s face with her quick wit and ability to make fun of every situation. In the early years, Mom and Dad enjoyed spending time with their numerous friends, often at the Eagles Club where Dad was an active member.  They had a busy social life and everyone wanted Mom at the party, as she loved to joke, sing and play guitar.  She enjoyed relaxing at the cabin during the summertime, first at Lac Pelletier and then eventually Beaver Flats. Upon retirement, Mom & Dad moved permanently to the River where Dad could fish every day and Mom could fry it up alongside fresh vegetables from the garden.  Mom enjoyed reading, television, bingo, and even took up golf.  She loved to sew, quilt and crochet making many clothes for Terry’s kids and cozy blankets for every family member.  Mom so loved each of her grandchildren and she is at the heart of many of their childhood memories.  They spent considerable time with her keeping busy outdoors, sewing, making crafts and falling asleep to her many songs and stories, which are beloved to this day.  Mom and Dad moved to Stewart Valley shortly before Dad passed away in 2001.  In the years that followed, she continued to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, traveling to Cypress Hills, Mexico and Cuba, and then eventually moving back into Swift Current.  Mom was caring and good-natured and all who knew her will smile at their memories of the laughter and happy times they were able to share with her.  Rosemary was pre-deceased by her parents, Margaret and Jim Rittinger; her husband, Harold Moen; mother and father-in-law, Bertha and Albin Moen; and brother’s-in-law Lorne (Phyllis) and Aldin Moen.  She is survived by her siblings: John (Jean) Rittinger, Frances (Fred) Kempf, and Robert (Carolyn) Rittinger; her children and grandchildren: Terry (Allan) Schafer, and their children Jodi Thorimbert (JC Davies), Jerrod (Kelly) Schafer and Jennifer (Shaun) Morris; daughter Trina McKetiak; daughter Tammy Komanchuk, and her children, Jelena and Chloe Komanchuk; and sister-in-law, Francis Moen, along with many special nieces and nephews.   Also to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brayden, Abbi-Gail, Jax, Casie, Carsen, Darby, and Emery.  The funeral will be held at St. Olaf`s Lutheran Church on Saturday January 14th, at 2:00pm with a tea to follow.  For anyone wishing to make a donation in Mom`s name, please consider supporting Canadian Diabetes Association, Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation or the SPCA. SIEMENS – ROBERT GEORGE

SIEMENS – Robert George – March 30, 1953 – January 25, 2017.  With shock and grief we announce the passing of Bob Siemens–devoted son, caring brother, loving husband, adoring father and doting grandfather.  Bob died suddenly of natural causes on Wednesday night at his home in Rush Lake, Saskatchewan.  He was predeceased by his father Henry and is survived by his mother Selma, his siblings Carol (Doug), Carl (Hollyce), Greg (Stephanie) and Peggy.  Bob also leaves behind his wife Gladys, their daughter Lea (Simon), and his granddaughter Romy.  Born in Swift Current, Bob grew up on a farm near Rush Lake and attended Herbert High School.  In his youth he had diverse occupations and spent many winters riding his custom-built Honda motorcycle through Mexico with his brother and friends.  In 1979 Bob met Gladys, a sculptor who lived in the former Rush Lake schoolhouse.  They fell in love, had a daughter named Lea and got married.  Lea was Bob’s little sun—his life revolved around her and his fierce loyalty to her knew no bounds.  Together they drove around the countryside, searching out babbling brooks in spring and later taking photographs at Highfield Dam.  After a period of farming, and running his own auto body shop for many years, Bob also worked as a foreman at Honey Bee Manufacturing in Frontier and as a welder at Wheatland Machine Shop in Swift Current.  In 2014 he launched his own custom metal design and fabrication business called The Metal Shop.  But if Bob’s vocation was working with his hands, his true gift was an eye for beauty.  He was a professional photographer whose work was exhibited in gallery shows, businesses and homes.  His main subject was the prairie landscape he knew intimately and held so dear.  Two years ago, the object of Bob’s attention became his granddaughter Romy.  He would hold her in his huge, weathered hands with remarkable tenderness, and the two instantly formed a special bond.  Those who were lucky enough to know Bob realize just how much we’ve lost in his passing.  He had the hands of a working man, the spirit of youth, and the soul of an artist.  He was truly one of a kind and will be remembered often, by many.  Those who wish to join us in saluting Bob are invited to an informal celebration of his life at 2 p.m. this Sunday, January 29th at the Rush Lake Hall in Rush Lake, Sask..  Musician Eliza Doyle will perform a special set and a light lunch will be served.  All are welcome.  For further information or to sign the family book of condolence, visit www.parksidefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle
